Our Gastrointestinal Conditions module was delivered as a face-to-face training in August of 2016.

The learning outcomes for this module:

  • Recognise the role of nutritional and environmental influences in gastrointestinal conditions
  • Recall gastrointestinal physiology and function
  • Understand what the microbiome is and describe how it influences disease
  • Describe the difference between coeliac disease and gluten sensitivity and develop nutritional, environmental and dietary measures to aid in treatment
  • Recall the relationship between the GIT and the brain, including strategies to optimise this relationship
  • Understand the nutritional and environmental treatment strategies for IBS, including functional testing
  • Identify the microbiology of Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and recall diagnostic testing available and treatment options
  • Develop a checklist to help identify nutritional and environmental influences and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions
